Karthala System, founded in 2017, gathers a world-class team of neuro-biology and instrumentation specialists to advance the technology behind the AODscope. The limitations of tools for functional imaging pushed the founders, Stephane Dieudonné and Benjamin Mathieu (INSERM 2016 innovation prize)(IBENS), to create the AODscope, an innovative acousto-optic two-photon microscope. More than 10 years of iterations in the Lab made the AODscope a future-ready device for neurobiologists, as attested by breakthrough optical voltage recordings.

Karthala System is based in the Paris-Saclay area within the central and largest scientific cluster in France and Europe.
Karthala System benefits from its collaboration with IBENS to provide continuous innovation in multiphoton microscopy for research in life science .
